The Kearney County Health Services Board of Trustees were looking toward the future at the July 25 meeting. An opportunity to improve and expand surgery services was introduced with a proposal for an operating table.
CEO Luke Poore informed the board $30,000 had been budgeted for a new table, but Director of Nursing, Acute Care Services Kendra Brown was able to secure an estimate from Didage for a fraction of that price. The proposal quotes a used operating table for $7,000.
Brown explained the urgency of replacing the current table. An attachment for the operating table is necessary to complete shoulder procedures. The piece KCHS purchased doesn’t properly connect to the current table, but it is compatible with the model Didage quoted. KCHS will have quick use of the table as additional surgeries are being scheduled.
