The Kearney County Fair is a source of fun and entertainment for residents and visitors of the county. It’s also a chance for 4H members to display the skills they have learned throughout the year. Some compete in the livestock ring while others take the stage in the fashion show. For 13 year old Claire Ortgiesen, the fair is a gallery for her crafts and artwork.
“I like making things and I like to paint. I always have at least a couple paintings on canvases in the fair,” Claire said.
Claire, along with brothers Dagan, 12 and Cole, 8, are members of the One Way Winners 4H club. While she has cousins in 4H who show horses, it was crafting that drew Claire to the program nearly 5 years ago.
