The Minden City Council met June 18 with a full council. The council addressed items relating to subdivisions, permits, wastewater treatment, street lights, and building code.
An application for a minor subdivision of Lots 1 and 2,, Block 26, Railroad Addition for Catharine Hickman was brought to the council. Surveyor Trenton Snow explained the request. He stated Hickman owns Lots 1, 2, 3, and 4. She would like to give the house located on Lots 1 and 2 to her grandson, but he doesn’t want the garage located at the back of the property.
Separating the two buildings will create a jagged property line that the City is not in favor of because it could lead to building permit issues in the future. A motion made by Teresa Sumstine to approve the minor subdivision failed for lack of a second. An application for a minor subdivision of Lots 3, 4, and part of Lot 2, Block 26, Railroad Addition for Catharine Hickman was dismissed because it was contingent on the approval of the first subdivision.
