More than 4,000 athletes and coaches from all 50 states and the District of Columbia will soon travel to Seattle, Washington for the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games. Among the competitors will be Upland teen Jarvis Green.
Green has played football for a number of years. Participating in peewee leagues and youth competitions, the sport became a big part of his life. His history as a player helped build his skills and he began playing on the local Special Olympics football team five years ago. The first week of July will be the pinnacle of his football career so far as he competes on the Nebraska team at the USA Games.
“I put in an application at the end of last August. They watched to see how I performed and then they made their decision,” Green said.
