Kearney/Buffalo County CASA planted a pinwheel garden March 30 to kick-off Child Abuse Prevention Month. The whimsical children’s toys were planted for the third year on the east side of the Kearney County courthouse to raise awareness of child abuse and neglect. They will remain throughout the month of April.
Christina Millsap, CASA Executive Director, stated: “Kearney/Buffalo County CASA is improving the lives of our most vulnerable youths, those that have been victims of abuse and/or neglect. In 2017, we served 163 youth that were all high risk for presentable health problems. By recruiting, screening, training and supervising 57 CASA Volunteers, we are able to help our abused and/or neglected youth increase their knowledge of healthy and unhealthy relationships, increase their knowledge about available services to meet their individual needs like counseling to deal with their drama and provided comprehensive education to CASA staff, in order to increase the involvement of CASA Volunteers to provide positive voices of our vulnerable youth. Kearney/Buffalo County CASA is working together with the public for our youth’s best interests.
