Axtell Community Schools is bringing Agricultural Education into their curriculum next year. Instructor Rebecca Cornelius has been meeting with administrators and students since January to work out the details and build enthusiasm for the new opportunity.
“We are planning for the program this spring and are excited to kick the program off in August,” Cornelius said.
Although Kearney County is a rural area with abundant crops and livestock, the knowledge associated with the agriculture industry is often overlooked when teaching youth. Some students are raised helping out on the farm while others have never been in a field. Despite their different experiences, Ag Education can teach students some valuable lessons.
