The City of Minden is planning no increase in electrical rates for residential and commercial customers in 2014.
The decision followed NPPD’s (Nebraska Public Power District) announcement in September that they would not need the two percent rate increase they had been proposing for both wholesale and retail customers in 2014.
Instead, NPPD announced that they are not proposing any rate increase for any of their customers in 2014.
Early in 2013, NPPD had alerted its wholesale and retail customers that it anticipated needing a projected 3.5 percent increase in 2014 and then later downgraded that to two percent.
In an email to wholesale customers last month, NPPD Chief Executive Officer Pat Pope listed several factors that contributed to the decision to have no increase this year.
