Winnona “Nonie” Ingram - March 09, 2013

Winnona F. “Nonie” Ingram was born Nov. 2, 1919, in Heartwell to Samuel and Hattie Conyers Garrett. She passed away March 9, 2013, at the home of her son in Chicora, Pa., following an illness.
She was a 1937 graduate of Minden High School.
She married Leo Ingram on Oct. 18, 1940. He preceded her in death in January 2002. Two children were born to this union, a daughter, Dixie Lea who died in infancy, and a son, Dennis Ray.
“Nonie,” as she was called by all who knew her, and Leo lived and farmed in the Axtell area from 1945, when Leo returned from the service, until 1959. During these years she was an employee of Bethphage Mission in Axtell (now Mosaic) in the children’s building.
In 1973 they moved to Aurora and in 1982 became “snowbirds” dividing their time between Aurora and Mesa, Ariz.
In 1998, they moved to Las Vegas, Nev., to be near their son, Dennis, and his wife, Judy.
Mrs. Ingram was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Axtell and belonged to the Auxiliary of the VFW.
She is preceded in death by her husband, baby daughter, one brother, two sisters, a grandson and two great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son and his wife, five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two nieces, one nephew, sisters-in-law, Merilyn Ingram of Springfield, Ore., and Delores Ingram of Minden and special friend, Pat Kindschuh of Axtell, numerous Ingram nieces and nephews. Many friends and acquaintances in the areas where she lived — Nonie didn’t know a stranger. One of her great legacies — she never spoke a negative word about any of her acquaintances.
Her remains will be laid to rest in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Axtell on June 25, 2013.
