Steven Silver - April 22, 2013

Steven Daniel Silver, 58 years of age, of Minden, (formerly of Funk), passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013, at Bethany Home in Minden.
Steven was born Jan. 10, 1955, at Kearney, the eldest of three children born to George D. and Donna M. (Lippstreu) Silver.
He was baptized at the First Christian Church in Kearney and confirmed at the Emmaus Evangelical Free Church north of Funk.
He received his primary education from Axtell Public School from kindergarten through the fifth grades, sixth through the eighth grades at Funk Public School and then graduated from Holdrege High School with the Class of 1973. Steve then pursued higher education at Kearney State College where he studied accounting.
Following his education, he engaged in farming with his parents on the family farm north of Funk.
In November of 2001, Steve suffered a stroke. Then in January of 2002, he began to make his home at Bethany Home in Minden, where he was cared for like family.
Steve loved the outdoors, was an avid baseball fan, loved Husker football and thoroughly enjoyed attending the activities of his nieces and nephews. Throughout the years at Bethany Home, Steve enjoyed having a special dog, Yoshi, by his side.
He leaves to mourn his passing his mother, Donna Silver of Funk; sister, Nancy Bartels and husband, David of Riverton; brother, Jim Silver and wife, Sherri of Holdrege; a host of special nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his grandparents, Steve was preceded in death by his father, George.
Funeral services were held April 26 at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with the Rev. Gene Layne and the Rev. Dr. Harold Berry officiating.
Interment was in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Steve’s honor and kindly suggested to the Funk Community Center, c/o the Phelps County Community Foundation.
