Merlin Madsen - July 12, 2012


Merlin Madsen, 78 years of age from Minden died on July 12, 2012, at the Kearney County Health Services Hospital in Minden.
Merlin was born on Nov. 11, 1933, in Minden. His parents were Andrew and Mildred (Collins) Madsen.
He grew up in the Minden area and attended school in Minden.
He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. After serving in the military he lived in North Platte.
On May 28, 1960, he married Lavon Jacobsen and they made their home in Minden.
He worked for Eaton’s in Kearney for many years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Minden.
Survivors include his wife, Lavon of Minden; sons, Lance of Fort Morgan, Colo., Randall and John, both of Minden; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and sisters, Shirley Ashworth and Dorothy Vogt, both of Idaho.
He is preceded death by his son, Perry and three sisters.
Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 23 at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Minden with the Rev. Michael Schmidt officiating.
Burial will be in the Fredericksburg Lutheran Cemetery.
Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements.
