Lois Aspegren - June 14, 2012

Lois Elnora Aspegren, age 96 years, eight months and 28 days was born the eighth child of nine children to Grace (Pope) Garrison and Arthur A. Garrison on Sept. 16, 1915, on a farm north of Alma in Harlan County.
Lois departed this life early Thursday morning, June 14, 2012, at Christian Homes in Holdrege.
She attended her first four years of grade school at the Freeze-out Rural School District No. 52 north of Alma and the fourth through the 12th grades at Huntley where she graduated with the Class of 1933.
In September of 1934 she was united in marriage to Jessie Reed Feese at Smith Center, Kan. To this union two children were born, a son Jerry Reed and a daughter Sherry Lynn. The family resided in Alma, California, Utah, and Arizona, returning to Alma in 1959.
She was employed at a café and at the telephone office. Unfortunately, this marriage ended in a divorce in 1961.
On June 21, 1963, she was united in marriage to Robert Clinton Aspegren at the Methodist Church in Alma. She was blessed with Bob’s two children, Marcia Marie and Monica Mary.
She was employed at the Hested’s Ten Cent Store in Holdrege from 1963 until 1975. The Aspegrens moved to Wilcox in July of 1963 where they purchased the hardware store in May 1964. They operated Aspegren Hardware and Appliance until they sold the store and retired in September 1988. Lois also did the books at the Hardware store from 1964 until 1988.
Bob preceded Lois in death on April 29, 1997.
Lois had been a resident of the Christian Homes in Holdrege since December of 2004.
She was a member of the Wilcox Division of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and attended the Wilcox United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband Bob, she was preceded in death by her mother on Feb. 5, 1947; father on Sept. 23, 1951; brothers, Sam Garrison and wife, Emma, James Garrison and wife, Marian, Leland Garrison, Lowell Garrison, and Paul “Swede” Garrison; sisters, Elsie Coe and husband, Fred, Julia Michels and husband, Harvey, and Edith Garrison; grandson, Terry Feese; son-in-law, Jack Saylor; and a step son-in-law, Albert Jones.
Lois leaves to mourn her passing her son, Jerry Feese and wife, Barbara, of Alma; daughter, Sherry Saylor of Arapahoe; stepdaughters, Marcia Jones of Mt. Vernon, Mo., and Monica Anderson of Holdrege; 12 grandchildren; five step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several step great- grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.
Funeral services were June 18 at the United Methodist Church in Wilcox with the Rev. Virginia Fleharty and Chaplain DeWayne Dow, officiating.
Internment was in the Wilcox Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the Wilcox United Methodist Church or to Christian Homes in Holdrege.
Banta-Torrey Funeral Home in Wilcox was in charge of arrangements.
