Richard Agee - June 07, 2012


Richard W. “Dick” Agee, 90, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully June 7, 2012 at the Monarch. Dick had previously been residing at the Landing with his beloved wife, Eloise.
Dick was born in Superior April 3, 1922, to John H. and Berthus Howard Agee. Dick move to Lincoln with his family at a young age.
He attended Culver Military Academy, graduating in June 1941. After graduating he attended the University of Nebraska and then joined the Army Air Force in April 1943. He served in China during WWII from June 1943 to August 1945.
He married Eloise H. Rogers Aug. 9, 1942. They lived in Omaha and later in Lincoln and were very active in their communities.
Mr. Agee was very active as Director and Chairman of First Bank and Trust Company of Minden. He was elected to the board in 1977 and retired in 2010. Area agricultural interests kept him knowledgeable of current farming practices and local economic conditions. He was supportive of the bank and held a personal interest in all of the directors, officers and staff.
Throughout the years he generously supported the community. Significant contributions were made to the Kearney County Hospital Foundation for numerous items of medical equipment and kitchen renovations. He also donated to the Kearney County Community Foundation for the restoration and maintenance of the Minden Opera House. Other groups supported financially included the Minden Community Center, FACES Rally, Minden Police Department, Axtell Fire Department, the Fredericksburg Lutheran Church and Sewing for Babies.
He was a Lincoln native but also had residences in LaPointe, Wis., and Rancho Mirage, Calif.
He was a long time member of the Lincoln Country Club and also a member of the University Club.
Dick is survived by his wife, Eloise H. (Rogers); son, Richard R. Agee; grandchildren, Jennifer L. Agee and Cameron T. Agee, both of Lincoln, and Walker R. Agee of Gillette, Wyo.; greatgrandchildren, Jadyn L. Agee, Seth A. Hincker and Tessa N. Hincker, all of Lincoln; long time friend and comrade, Rex Marquart and long time friend and caregiver, Pauline Smith.
He is preceded in death by his parents John H. and Bertha (Howard) Agee; brother, Howard H. Agee; and daughter-in-law, Jane L. (Turner) Agee.
Services were held at Butherus, Maser and Love on June 11.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the donors choice.
Butherus, Maser and Love were in charge of arrangements.
