Moriah Panter - April 13, 2012

Moriah Joy Panter, age 20, of Kearney died Friday, April 13, 2012, at Lincoln Bryan LGH Medical Center East of a pulmonary embolism.
Moriah was born Feb. 8, 1992, in Kearney to Steve and Nadine (Stuehm) Panter.
She was baptized on April 12, 1992, confirmed her faith on May 14, 2006, and was a member of First Lutheran Church in Kearney.
Moriah loved helping in the First Lutheran Church nursery on Sunday mornings and played bells with the youth bell choir. She recently started attending the EFree Church services in Kearney and felt a strong renewed faith.
She attended school at Zion Lutheran Church School, Sunrise Middle School, and Kearney High School and graduated on May 16, 2010.
She enjoyed swimming with KHS and KAST. She was able to travel with a UNK group to Israel in 2010.
She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and was interested in pursuing a career in fashion and business.
She was a member of the UNL Club Swim Team. Moriah was known for her many “favorites” and caring hugs. Her love of pink was evident in everything she did. She always wanted to be the first to send a message to family members in honor of special occasions. She truly enjoyed being a part of a large close knit family and looked forward to all their traditions and telling them she loved them. She loved Nebraska football game parties, Tri-City Storm games, and keeping track of all her favorite sport teams including the KC Royals. Moriah was a 4-H’er in Buffalo County, a former lifeguard for Kearney Park and Rec., previously worked at the Hastings Book Store and at Herberger’s in Kearney.
Survivors include her parents, Nadine Stuehm of Kearney, and Steve Panter of Hildreth; sister, Cecilee Panter of Kearney; grandmothers, Matilda Stuehm of Kearney, and Lela Panter of Colby, Kan.; aunts and uncles, David and Lydia Stuehm of Hildreth, Linda and Victor Olsen of Brighton, Colo., Valerie and Al Erickson, Jacquie and Joe Slagle, all of Kearney, Joel and Denise Panter of Holdrege, and Mileah and Chad Nickel of Axtell; cousins, Trenton Erickson, Trevor Erickson, and Ashlee Clark, all of Omaha, Mary and Seth Johnson of Upland, Laurel and Joey Thorell, Christian Stuehm, and Robert Stuehm all of Hildreth, Nicole and Rob Evers of Minden, Troy Olsen of Kansas City, Mo., Brittany Olsen of Brighton, Colo., Aaron Svoboda, Adam Svoboda, and Zach Svoboda, all of Holdrege; Connor and Cole Slagle of Kearney, Gabrielle, Emme, Mia, and Cadie Nickel of Axtell, Bristol, Barrett, and Marley Thorell of Hildreth, and Kaleb and Kip Johnson of Upland. The family wants to thank her best friend, Mackenzie Merritt of Kearney.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Harold Stuehm and Duane Panter, and cousin Kimberly Olsen.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time at the church.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, at the Evangelical Free Church in Kearney with Pastor Mike Shields officiating.
Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.
