Robert McBride - March 11, 2012

Robert “Bob” L. McBride, 81, of Kearney and formerly of Minden, died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at St. John’s Good Samaritan Center in Kearney.
Robert was born Sept. 16, 1930, in Blue Hill to Julius and Isabel (Chaplin) McBride.
He graduated from Minden High School in 1950 and from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln in 1956.
On Dec. 28, 1952, he married Erma D. Rihn in Gurley.
He is a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954.
He owned and operated Minden Terminal Service Inc., in Minden until his retirement.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men in Minden, Minden Lions Club, South Platte United Chambers of Commerce, Jaycees, and Petroleum Marketers Association and had served as chairman of the Minden All-Class Reunion.
He enjoyed following his children’s and grandchildren’s activities, especially their sporting events. He also enjoyed travelling, often for Lions conventions.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Erma McBride of Kearney; daughters, Julie Herring and husband, Robert, of Fort Worth, Texas, Robbie Wimmer of Minden, and Sandra McBride and husband, Bruce Chapman of Lincoln; son, Kurt McBride and wife, Luann, of Cozad; grandsons, Matthew Herring of Fort Worth, Texas, Brian McBride and fiancé, Kate Hares of Auburn, N.Y., Adam Pederson and wife, Kacey, of Lincoln, and Austin Pederson and wife, Sarah, of Washington, D.C.; granddaughters, Corey Rudnick and husband, Dan, of Lincoln, and Sarah Pedersen of Cozad; great-grandchildren, Jess Rudnick and Maximus Pedersen, all of Lincoln; brothers, James McBride and wife, Pam, of Minden, and Richard “Dick” McBride and wife, Kay Lyn of Minden.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Isabel McBride; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Leona Rihn; sister, Patricia Petersen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Conrad Petersen, Erwin and Lois Rihn, and Herb and Carolyn Rihn; grandchildren, Jennifer McBride and Adam McBride.
Memorial services were March 14 at Horner Lieske McBride and Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney with the Rev. Nancy Lambert officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the Minden United Methodist Church, Leader Dogs For The Blind, or to The Lions Eye Bank of Nebraska.
