Hazel Hauserman - January 23, 2012


Hazel Evelyn Hauserman was born the first child of three children to Reuben Raymond Earl Rinehart and Mrs. Lottie Serena (Skiles) Rinehart on Dec. 28, 1915, at Huntley.
She departed this life early Monday morning, Jan. 23, 2012, at Christian Homes in Holdrege. Her age was 96 years and 20 days.
“Evie,” as everyone came to know her, attended schools in Huntley where she graduated from high school with the Class of 1933.
On April 30, 1939, she was united in marriage to Theodore William Hauserman at the Franklin County Courthouse in Franklin. To this union two children, Linda Rae and Richard Lee were born.
The family made their home on a farm one mile west and one half mile north of Huntley where they resided until 1945 when they moved to the Hauserman farmstead two and a half miles east of Huntley.
On Sept. 18, 1992, Evie’s husband, Theodore, preceded her in death.
She continued to reside on the farm until moving to Holdrege in 1997. On Sept. 1, 2005, Evie moved to Chrisoma West in Holdrege and has been a resident of Christian Homes in Holdrege since July 3, 2008.
Evie was a member of the Huntley United Methodist Church, and was recognized for being a 70 year member of the U.M.W.
She was a former member of the K.K.K. Extension Club and had served on the Huntley Election Board for many years.
In addition to her husband, Evie was preceded in death by her mother on Sept. 12, 1977; her father on Jan. 3, 1982; and two brothers Hershel Rinehart and his wife, Beverly, and Virgil Rinehart.
Survivors include a daughter Linda Gaffney and husband Leland, of Holdrege; son, Richard Hauserman and wife, Melodee, of Minden; a sister-in-law, Virgil (Geraldine) Rinehart of Franklin; grandchildren, Deb Neilson and husband, Rick, of Alma, Pam Jons and husband, Bob, of Holdrege, Kevin Gaffney of Carson City, Nev., Angela Hauserman of Kearney, and Erik Hauserman and wife, Susan, of Minden; great-grandchildren, Erin Williams and husband, Phillip, of Omaha, Lucas Gaffney of Elk River, Minn., Jeremy Neilson of California, Shelbey Jons of Hastings, Tanner and Jacey Jons of Holdrege, and Ryan, Jacob and Seth Hauserman of Minden; one great-great-grandson, Soloman Nash Williams of Omaha, other relatives and many friends.
Private inurnment of the cremains was held Jan. 27 at the Alma Cemetery.
Memorial funeral services were held the same day at the Huntley United Methodist Church with Pastor Jean Clayton officiating.
Anne Lippstreu played the organ for prelude and postlude and during the service, the piano solos, “How Great Thou Art” and “It Is Well With My Soul.”
Honorary pallbearers were the grandchildren, the great- grandchildren and the great- great-grandson.
Memorials will be directed to the Huntley United Methodist Women.
Banta-Torrey Funeral Home of Alma was in charge of the arrangements.
