The Minden City Council met December 18 for their final regular meeting of the year. Mayor Ted Griess took the opportunity to wish those attending the meeting a Merry Christmas and announced a special meeting would be held December 22 at 4:00 p.m.
Before moving onto business, he noted some changes to the consent agenda presented to the council for consideration. The correction omitted three mayoral appointments to community boards. He also commended Kristi Lammers for serving on the Tree Board for over 20 years.
The main topic of the meeting was the condemnation of property located at 224 N. Hubbard. A public hearing was opened at 6:10 p.m. by City Attorney Tom Lieske. Minden Police Chief Jim Huff spoke in favor of the condemnation. He submitted a number of photos of the property for the record and told the council that to the best of his knowledge no one was living there. He noted that two nuisance letters to clean up the garage area have gone unanswered by the owners.
