The Kearney County Health Services Board of Trustees held their monthly meeting November 29. Attending the meeting was Jim Gustafson from Nebraska Community Foundation (NCF) to answer questions.
The Kearney County Medical Foundation is looking to disband and transfer financial responsibilities to NCF. Gustafson was at the meeting to explain what it would mean for KCHS to sign an agreement with NCF, what the benefits could be, and what steps need to be taken to begin.
Affiliating with NCF would eliminate the need to comply with IRS specifications and filing taxes, help with liability issues, and offer a better return on investment. NCF has a team of professionals who handle investments and training to capitalize on available funding. Their role, if the Foundation is disbanded and an agreement is signed with NCF, would be to assist rather than fully take over.
