“I’m extremely proud of all who have worked on this project and all that has been done," said Senator Mike Johanns at the official ground breaking ceremony for Minden West Estates Wednesday morning.  The senator joined Master of Ceremonies Pamela Forster, Vice President of Business Development, Excel Development Group, Minden Mayor Roger Jones, Phil Johannsen, (representing Senator Ben Nelson), Steve Peregrine, (NIFA), and Tom Smith, (Smith Hayes Financial Services), at the podium during the short program.
Johanns commended all involved in the project for their ability to work through road blocks, set backs and find a way to get it done.  “The reality is, those who sit down and say we’ve got to find a way to get it done...get it done.”
Minden West Estates is a tax credit housing project located at the northeast corner of Road 31 and Sycamore Street on the west side of the city of Minden.
The first unit could be completed as soon as January 2011.
