Mayor Ted Griess began the March 18 regular City Council meeting with thoughts and prayers for fellow Nebraskans who were affected by the recent flooding. He encouraged citizens to contribute to disaster relief in whatever way they are able.
Chris Miller from Miller & Associates was in attendance to provide an overview of contractor bids received for the lift station #8 project. Five contractors submitted bids with costs noted for both the City’s portion of the project and Landmark’s portion. The lowest overall bid, from VanKirk Bros. Contracting, was actually the second lowest bid for the City’s costs. Phil Carkoski Construction proved the lowest bid to the City.
Utilities Superintendent Ryan Hurst asked the council to approve the bid from Phil Carkoski Construction. He said the City has had a very positive experience with the company on past projects. Phil Carkoski Construction will also be utilizing a local electrician for the project’s electrical work.
