Members of the Wilcox-Hildreth school district community were invited to an informational presentation regarding future plans for the district on January 23. Superintendent Carl Dietz started the evening by assuring the crowd that it is not the intention of the Wilcox-Hildreth Board of Education to close the Hildreth location.
Dietz was hired as an interim superintendent in 2017. During his term, he was asked to find a way for the district to be more efficient. His immediate response was by closing the Hildreth location, the district would see significant savings and be more efficient. Rumors that a closing would take place began despite the immediate dismissal of the idea by the Board of Education.
At the presentation Dietz claimed complete responsibility for the rumors as a result of his suggestion. He repeatedly assured the gathered patrons that is not the plan, but the Board of Education is exploring options to provide the best educational experience for the lowest cost.
