The Minden City Council took care of old business before holding their reorganizational meeting December 3. First on the agenda was consideration of approval for the purchase of a new sanitation truck.
The council was advised by Street Superintendent Chris Klahn and City Administrator Matt Cederburg to approve the purchase of a new sanitation truck within the next 12 months. A side dump truck would be more expensive, but Cederburg explained it would improve operations and provide savings to the City in other respects.
Minden resident Gaylen Hansen told the council that changing trash pick up will be hard on older residents like himself. The council weighed in on the pros and cons of moving forward with a side dump truck that would eliminate alley pick up for residents not located on the highway.
