MINDEN — The idea to open a new coffee shop in Minden has percolated in Sherri Brewer’s mind for a long time.
The same is true for four Minden couples who, for about two years, have talked about the need for a coffee house in their small, Kearney County community.
By the end of July, Minden residents will have two new coffee houses to choose from.
Brewer’s Coffee House is expected to open this month at 317 N. Minden Ave., which is one block south of the town square.
Minden Coffee House will open in July at 441 N. Colorado St. in the former Fitzsimmons building, which is on the town square and across the street from the Minden Opera House.
“I never expected to have competition like this right away, but Minden supports its local businesses. I think there will be enough business for both of us,” said Brewer’s Coffee House owner Sherri Brewer.
