Mary Meisenbach - July 30, 2013

Mary Katherine (Kay) Meisenbach, 84 years of age passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Kearney County Health Services Hospital shortly after being admitted.
Kay was born Sept. 14, 1928, in Alma to Berry Travis Crawford and Clara Gussie Hancock.
She graduated from Alma High School in 1946 and attended Hastings College.
Kay married James F. Meisenbach, August 19, 1950. To this union six children were born: Terry, Jean, Julie, Tom, Barbara, and Patti.
She attended the Queen Anne School of Beauty in Kearney. In addition to raising six children and farming with her husband, she owned and operated Kay’s Countryside Salon on the Meisenbach farm for many years, cutting, curling and coloring the hair of her neighbors.
Kay attended St. John’s Catholic Church in Minden and St. Teresa Catholic Church in Palm Springs, Calif. She was an active member and held several offices in the St. John’s Altar Society and Orleans Deanery.
She was a member of the Minden American Legion Auxiliary and served on the Kearney County Election Board.
Kay was a member of several bowling and golf leagues in Minden as well as many card clubs over the years. She loved Nebraska football, playing card games, board games, and doing crossword puzzles, jumbles, and brainteasers. She enjoyed trips to the casinos with her husband and children. For many years she and Jim enjoyed boating and fishing at Harlan County Reservoir including a few memorable tubing trips down the Republican River.
She is survived by her children, Terry Meisenbach (A. J. Ferber), Rancho Mirage, Calif., Jean Korth (Mike), Hastings, Julie Runcie (Craig), Beatrice, Tom Meisenbach, Minden, Patti Meisenbach Lyons (George), Doylestown, Pa.; son-in-law, Ken Davies of Cave Creek, Ariz.; grandchildren, Sarah Meisenbach, Molly Moller (Brandon), Jim Korth, Pat Korth (Korah), Eric Korth, Travis Runcie, Paige Runcie, Dominic Davies, Deborah Davies, and Thomas Davies; and great- grandchildren, Taylor Korth, Lily Korth, Liam Korth, Sydney Meisenbach, and Lawson Moller, as well as many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband Jim in April 2004 and her daughter Barbara Meisenbach Davies in January 2008, sister Sybil Payne and brother Joseph Crawford, and her parents.
Most important to her was her family, her husband, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They all brought joy to her life.
Funeral services were Aug. 3 at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Minden.
Burial was in the Minden Cemetery.
Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden was in charge of arrangements.
