Donna Miller - June 23, 2013

Donna “JoAnne” Miller, 82, of Axtell and formerly of Brady, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Bethany Home in Minden.
JoAnne was born Nov. 2, 1930, in North Platte to Dewey McKinley and Alice Bernice Lawrence.
She graduated from North Platte High School in 1948 and married Anton (Tony) Miller of rural Gothenburg July 31, 1948, in North Platte.
After he re-enlisted, the couple moved to Germany in 1950, where Tony, a World War II Army veteran, was assigned. They returned to the North Platte area in 1953 upon his discharge. The couple farmed near Hershey, Maxwell, and moved to Wild Horse Valley north of Brady in 1964 where they farmed and raised livestock. Tony died in 2008, and she moved to Axtell in 2009 and to Bethany Home in 2013.
JoAnne, who loved to cook, grew many vegetables in a large garden from which she prepared excellent meals.
She loved cattle, the farm life and the farm, walking in the canyons — especially with their dog Beau, her family and her grandchildren.
She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary for more than 45 years, a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Gothenburg, and was a current member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Axtell.
Survivors include her sons, Terry and wife Donella Miller of Garden City, Kan., Steve and wife Geri Lynn Miller of Laramie, Wyo., and Doug and wife Laura Miller of Axtell; grandsons, Derek, Eric, Jordan, and Benjamin; and granddaughters, Melissa, Kristen, and Morgan; and a sister-in-law, Jeannine Lawrence of Tempe, Ariz.
