Raylene Meester - May 18, 2013


Raylene Meester, 57 years of age from Lincoln, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2013, in Lincoln after a courageous 15 month battle against carcinosarcoma. Raylene passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved her dearly. She never lost her spirit and was a fighter up to the end.
Raylene was born on July 2, 1955, in Minden to Raymond and Gladys (Rasmussen) Meester.
She grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Holdrege High School in 1973.
She was passionate about her family and loved being a “Nana.” Raylene loved to draw and paint. As an artist, she had the ability to always see the beauty in everything.
Up to her death she had worked for Assurity Life Insurance as a senior claims analyst for 31 years.
Originally from Holdrege Raylene graduated from college with a degree in architecture.
Survivors include her spouse, Patti Lutter of Lincoln; step- daughters, Autumn Schafer of Walton and Megan Lutter of Beatrice; beautiful grandchildren, Joshua and Jenasys; brothers, Wilber Meester and wife Nancy, Alden Meester and wife Jane, and LaMoine Meester and wife Gail; nieces and nephews, Sharla, Shawna, Kirk, Scott, Dawn, Tracy, and Jason.
She was predeceased by her parents Raymond Meester and Gladys Rasmussen Meester; sister-in-law, Jackie Nelson Meester.
There will be a Celebration of her Life at First Plymouth Church 2000 D Street in Lincoln on Wednesday, May 22 at 1:30 p.m. followed by a reception at the church. She will be cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements.
