Florence Dossett - April 22, 2013

Florence Angeline Dossett, 98 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013, at Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege.
Florence was born Oct. 9, 1914, at Axtell, the youngest of five children born to Oscar and Selma (Ang) Anderson.
She received her education from Axtell Public Schools, graduating from Axtell High School with the Class of 1932.
Florence then pursued higher education to receive her beautician’s license from the Bonnell Beauty School in Hastings.
On Oct. 10, 1940, she was united in marriage to Arden Van Dossett at Alma and to this union three children were born: Ted, James, and Jane. Early on in the couple’s marriage they made their home in McCook, Oxford, and Kearney before settling to Holdrege in 1956. She then established her own salon, Florence’s Beauty Shop in the basement of their home, which she operated until her retirement in 1999.
Florence was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church.
Florence and Arden enjoyed playing cards with friends and square dancing together.
She leaves to mourn her passing her three children, Ted Dossett and wife, Betty Lou of Holdrege, Jim Dossett and wife, Luanne of Silverthorne, Colo., and Jane Weeder and husband, Stan of Atlanta; grandchildren, Todd Dossett and wife, Kelly, Terra Meyer and husband, Tim, Terry Smith and husband, Jerry, all of Holdrege, Kylor Dossett of Breckenridge, Colo., Sharayah Peterson and husband, Adam of Memphis, Tenn., Marcie Stephens and husband, Craig of Pleasanton, Derek Weeder and fiancé, Kassie Brown of Holdrege, and Angelin Johnston and husband, J.J. of Loomis; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Helen Anderson of California; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arden, on June 1, 1992; a grandson, Tad Allen Dossett in 1973; brothers, Gaylord, Oscar “Bud” and Clemens “Ken” Anderson; and a sister, Selma Thompson.
Memorial services were held on April 26 at the Christian Homes Care Community Chapel at Holdrege with Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating.
A private family inurnment was held prior to the services at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Axtell.
A memorial has been established in Florence’s honor and will be designated at a later date.
