Kyle Jessen - February 22, 2013


Kyle Kathleen Jessen, 50, of Sidney, formally of Minden, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Kyle was born Dec. 16, 1962, in Lexington to Al and Marilyn (Knauss) Jessen.
She graduated from Minden High School in 1981, attended UNL where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority and graduated with a BS degree from Oklahoma State University in 1985.
After graduation she worked for a specialty store in Tulsa, Okla., for a number of years. Upon returning to Minden she was employed by Baldwin Filters in Kearney as a packaging specialist. In 2007 she accepted a position with Cabela’s Corporate Office and moved to Sidney. At the time of her death she was their product testing coordinator.
She loved her job and coworkers and made friends with all her testers across the United States.
She is survived by her son, Alex Jessen, of Rapid City, S.D., mother Marilyn and step-father Carl Jessen of Fruitport, Mich.; sister, Karma Jessen and partner, Sue Anderson of Yorkville, Ill.; step-sisters, Krista Schmuker of Houston, Texas, Kendra Decker of Grand Rapids, Mich.; step-brother, Scott Jessen of Hudsonville, Mich., and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1998.
Kyle was always at the center of Alex’s activities and achievements. She loved her years of teaching Sunday School, enjoyed playing golf and was always involved in a home decorating project. She cherished her family and all her many, many friendships. The courage and deep faith Kyle modeled during this battle inspired all who knew and loved her. Her spirit will live on in all of us.
Kyle was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Sidney.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 1st in the United Methodist Church in Minden with Pastor Donald Hunzeker officiating.
Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place.
