Nile Kersenbrock - January 09, 2013

Nile Robert Kersenbrock, 59 years of age from Minden, died Jan. 9, 2013, at Bethany Home in Minden.
Nile was born Aug. 30, 1953, at the Feis home in Campbell to Myron and Lorrena (Bunger) Kersenbrock of Hildreth.
He was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church south of Hildreth.
He attended Hildreth Public School and graduated from high school in 1972. After school he attended Central Community College in Hastings, becoming certified in parts management and diesel mechanics.
After college he worked with his father and grandparents at Schwartz Bro’s in Hildreth until they closed. He was then hired at Kleen Implement in Franklin until they closed. He then went to work at NAPA Auto Parts in Minden until being hired at R & R Repair in Franklin.
It was while he was working at R & R that he was set up on a blind date with Bobette Bailey of Holdrege at their Christmas party in December of 1987. They married on April 30, 1988 at the Campbell Presbyterian Church in Campbell.
Nile and Bobette lived on a farm southwest of Hildreth until moving to another farm south of Macon. It was while he lived here that he was run over by his Ford tractor on December 3, 1998. Nile was hospitalized two months and had months of physical therapy. In 1999 Nile and Bobette moved to Franklin. In 2000 they moved to Hildreth. In April of 2012 Nile moved to Bethany Home until he passed away.
He was a member of the Hildreth and Macon Lions Clubs and the United Methodist Church of Wilcox.
He had a very sweet disposition and had a very tender heart. When he laughed, his whole face lit up. He had an incredible memory for numbers and never had to look up anything when people needed parts.
Nile is survived by his wife, Bobette, of Minden; mother, Lorrena; and brother, Reuben, of Hildreth; sisters, Lori Hodson and husband, Jeff, of Hastings; and Lisa Nerud and husband, Randy, of Lincoln; sisters-in-law, Beverly Russell and husband, Roger, of Gering, and Bonnie Bailey of Albuquerque, N.M.; and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and many, many friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Myron; and grandparents, John and Grace Kersenbrock and Ocke and Martha Bunger.
Funeral services were Jan. 12 at the Wilcox United Methodist Church in Wilcox with the Rev. Virginia Fleharty officiating.
Burial was at the Campbell Presbyterian Cemetery.
Layton-Craig Funeral Home of Minden was in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in his name.
