Delton Blank - July 11, 2012


nd 19 days was born the first child of four children to Walter Leslie Blank and Marie Johanna (Casper) Blank on June 22, 1939, at Franklin. He departed this life Wednesday morning, July 11, 2012, at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha where he had been hospitalized for the past seven weeks.
Delton was baptized at the Methodist Church in Franklin by Pastor H. A. James on July 22, 1939.
He attended schools at Wilcox where he graduated from high school with the Class of 1957.
On July 14, 1957, he was united in marriage to Janet Carol Lynch at the Wilcox Community Church by Pastor Boyd White. To this union five children were born, Cindy Lu, David Lynn, Dale Brian, Joann Louise, and Angela Marie.
The family resided at Fremont where Delton attended the Midland Lutheran College for two years. He participated in basketball and track.
After attending college they returned to Wilcox to farm. A house was moved onto the site where they still reside eight miles south of town.
He was confirmed at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Hildreth by Pastor J. C. Suter on April 11, 1954. He was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council. He was presently a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth. He had served on the board of directors for the Wilcox Co-op.
He had sold Pioneer seed corn for more than 25 years.
He enjoyed watching western’s and watching as well as supporting all sports. He enjoyed his grandkids and great grandkids. He enjoyed Branson, Mo., and country music. He also enjoyed eating, but never learned to cook much!
He leaves to mourn his passing his loving and devoted wife, Janet of their home south of Wilcox; daughters, Cindy Kuhl and husband, Kim, of Kearney, Joann Vogel and husband, Roger of Atkins, Iowa, and Angela Blank of Hildreth; sons, David Blank and his special friend, Renee Novak of Overton, and Dale Blank and wife, Teresa, of Hildreth; brothers, Roger Blank of Bethany Home in Minden, and Steven Blank and wife, Debbi Jo, of Wilcox; sister, Diane Epley of North Platte; 12 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his father on July 5, 2005; his mother on June 15, 2006; and a brother-in-law, Carl Epley.
Soloist was Melinda Ferree.
Donna Davidson was the pianist.
Hymn selections included “How Great Thou Art,” and “Rest High On The Mountain,” recording by Vince Gill.
Funeral services were July 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth with the Revs. Baron and Nancy Cole officiating.
Casketbearers were grandchildren, Dustin Blank, Dillon Blank, Marcus Kuhl, Michael Kuhl, Brandon Vogel, Jonah Blank, Colby Blank, Caleb Blank and Tim Blank.
Honorary casketbearers were granddaughters, Danielle Morgan, Jessica Kollars and Krista Jo Vogel.
Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin.
A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date.
Banta-Torrey Funeral Home of Wilcox was in charge of arrangements.
