James Hamilton - June 11, 2012

James S. Hamilton, 70, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at McCook Community Hospital in McCook from a long battle with cancer.
James was born Sept. 7, 1941, in Minden to Doyle and Martha (Brainard) Hamilton.
He grew up in Minden and attended Minden High School.
He served in the Navy from 1959 to 1965. Most of his time was spent on the USS Black.
He worked at the Minden Courier newspaper as a linotype operator for a number of years. He continued in the business at Emil Strine Printing and Fifth Street Printing.
In February of 1977 he married Mary (McClenahan). They moved to Culbertson in 2001.
He then worked for the McCook Community College until he retired.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife of 32 years, and infant grandson, A. J. Carlson.
Survivors include stepsons, Jerry Carlson and wife, Judy, of Minneapolis, Minn., and Robert Carlson of Columbus; stepdaughter, Sondra Engler of South Dakota, and daughters, Sheila Kehler and husband, Fred, of Culbertson and Carrie Howard and husband, Jon, of Longmont, Colo.; sister, Judy Lammers; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Graveside services for his cremains were June 15 at the Minden Cemetery with the Rev. Nancy Lambert officiating.
Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden was in charge of arrangements.
