Nolin Leonard - May 31, 2012

Former Hastings resident, Nolin “Slim” Arthur Leonard, 88, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard.
Slim was born July 15, 1923, in Pineville, Mo., to Fred and Etta (Elderkin) Leonard.
He graduated from White Rock High School in Jane, Mo.
He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Holstein.
In 1944 he joined the Army and Navy for one year and was medically discharged.
On April 4, 1970, he married Leona Steinike in Sharon Springs, Kan.
In 1973 they moved to Roseland where he worked for the Co-op Grain and Supply as a farm laborer in the elevator. He retired in 1986 and later moved to Hastings.
He was a past member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Holstein and the American Legion Post 94 in Minden. He was a charter member of the Roseland Senior Citizen Club.
Survivors include his wife, Leona (Steinike) Leonard of Harvard; special niece and spouse, Evelyn and Allan Weiss of Bethune, Colo.; and other nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Connie Moore; and brothers, Norman Leonard and Wallace Leonard.
Memorial services were June 7 at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating.
Burial was in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
Memorials may be given to Harvard Rest Haven or AseraCare Hospice.
Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home and Cremation Center was in charge of arrangements.
