Elsie Moss - May 03, 2012

Elsie Evelyn Moss, 98, of Axtell, formerly of Cairo, died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Kearney County Health Services in Minden.
Elsie was born Aug. 3, 1913, in rural Shelton to Joe and Anna (Klinkacek) Quaring.
She received her education at District 61 in Buffalo County.
She was united in marriage to Ted Moss on Feb. 12, 1936, at Zion Lutheran Church, north of Shelton. The couple lived north of Shelton where they farmed for several years.
After her husband’s death in 1976, she continued to live on the farm. In September of 1984, she moved to Cairo, and transferred her membership from Grace Lutheran Church in Wood River to Christ Lutheran Church in Cairo.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, embroidering, and gardening. She also enjoyed baking and canning.
She was a member of “Happy Home Club” for several years. She participated in Cairo Senior Center and enjoyed quilting at the church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jerrilyn and Leland Anderson of Axtell; daughter-in-law, Sharolyn Moss of Grand Island; grandson, Eric, of Minden; granddaughter, Lisa, of Kearney; brother, Emmett Quaring of St. Paul.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Wayne; brother, Everett Quaring; and sister, Mabel Waddington.
Funeral services were May 8 at Christ Lutheran Church in Cairo.
Burial was at Westlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Glen Keylon officiating.
Memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church or the Gideon’s, in lieu of flowers.
Apfel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
