Joyce Cronin - April 21, 2012


Joyce Diane Cronin, 56 years and nine days, departed this life Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.
Joyce was born the second child of three children to Elmer Sam Bienhoff and Adeline Anna Johanna (Frecks) Bienhoff on April 12, 1956, at Franklin.
She was baptized in infancy in the Lutheran faith and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Bloomington in 1973.
She attended grade school at Bloomington and high school at Republican City graduating with the Class of 1974. She then attended Central Technical Community College at Hastings for two years.
She resided at Hildreth and was employed at the Bethphage Mission in Axtell. She was later employed at the S & S Lounge in Wilcox and resided with Don and Barb Seybold south of Wilcox.
In May of 1991, she was united in marriage to Robert Daniel Cronin at Clay Center. To this union a son, Robert Daniel Jr., was born. She was also blessed with two stepdaughters, Kristie and Amy.
After her marriage, she resided with her husband at Sutton where she enjoyed helping with the farming and livestock. Unfortunately this marriage ended in divorce in 1996. She moved to Wilcox in the fall of 1996 were she had since resided. She cared for Lonna Knaus at Hildreth in 2002. She was employed at the Holdrege Memorial Homes from 2003 until 2011 when her health began to fail.
She leaves to mourn her passing her former husband, Bob Cronin Sr., of Sutton; son, Daniel Cronin Jr., of Sutton; stepdaughters, Kristie Sylvester and husband, Ron, of Papillion, and Amy Hollingsworth and husband, Anthony, of Overland Park, Kan.; brother, Lonnie Bienhoff and wife, Joan, of Bloomington; and sister, Sheryl Tegtman and husband, Dennis, of Stamford; three step-grandchildren; a sister-in-law and close friend, Sharon Cronin of Lincoln; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her father on Feb. 22, 1973, and her mother on Aug. 9, 1983.
Funeral services were April 26 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wilcox with the Rev. Melvin Mertens officiating.
Mary Anne Overhalser was the organist.
Casketbearers were Ron Blank, Treavor Carr, Matt Gardels, Shannon Olson, Allison Schepler and Jesse Spangler.
Interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bloomington.
Banta-Torrey Funeral Home in Wilcox was in charge of arrangements.
