James McBride - March 30, 2012

James Stanley McBride, 85, of Minden, passed away March 30, 2012.
James was born July 25, 1926, in Blue Hill, the oldest child of J.R. and Isabel (Chaplin) McBride.
He grew up in Blue Hill and moved to Minden in 1940, where he graduated from Minden High School in 1944.
He entered the Navy upon graduation, and briefly attended the University of Nebraska. He returned to Minden where he worked at the Ford dealership.
He met Pamela Mason while she was visiting her uncle in Minden; the couple married and made a honeymoon trip to her home in England.
He soon pursued his interest in farming, and moved his young family to a small farmhouse southwest of Axtell, later moving to a larger home west of town. Health issues forced him to quit farming, and he began a career in real estate, eventually establishing McBride Realty which he operated until again his health forced his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Pam, of Minden; children, Karen Flesner and husband, Rod, of North Platte, Brian McBride and wife, Ellie, of Glendale, Ariz., Linda Novacek and husband, Darrell, of Norfolk, David of Beaumont, Texas and Deb Thramer and husband, Tim, of Blue Hill; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Dick McBride and wife, Kay Lyn, of Minden.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Susan; one grandson, and three great-grandchildren as well as his sister, Pat Peterson; and brother, Bob McBride.
Funeral services were April 3 at the United Methodist Church in Minden with the Rev. Nancy Lambert officiating.
Burial will be later in the Minden Cemetery.
