LaVeda Youngson - March 02, 2012


LaVeda Youngson, 99, of Minden, died Friday, March 2, 2012, at Bethany Home in Minden.
LaVeda was born Sept. 8, 1912, in Lebanon, Kan., to Miles and Delilah “Watson” Hoag.
She graduated from Wood River High School in 1931.
She was a licensed cosmetologist, worked and managed a beauty shop in Grand Island.
On Oct. 5, 1940, she married Elmer Youngson in Las Vegas, Nev., and during World War II lived in Glendale, Calif. In 1950 they returned to Nebraska eventually settling in Minden.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Minden and enjoyed volunteering for the church and Bethany Home.
She enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, crocheting, crafts and playing cards with her many friends.
Survivors include her son, Steve Youngson and wife, Carol, of Louisville, Ky.; granddaughter, Ashley Youngson; sisters-in-law, Ella Hoag of Grand Island and Violet Duckworth of Grand Junction, Colo.; nephews, Mike Hoag and wife, Mary Pat of Norfolk, Jim Hoag of Grand Island, and James and Jeanette Wilkinson of Minden.
She is preceded in death by parents; husband, Elmer Youngson; and brother, Duane Hoag.
Memorial services were March 6 at the United Methodist Church in Minden with the Rev. Nancy Lambert officiating.
Graveside services were prior to the memorial service at the Minden Cemetery.
Layton-Craig Funeral Home of Minden was in charge of arrangements.
