Harry Fuqua - February 27, 2012


Harry E. Fuqua, 75, of Kearney, formerly of Minden, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at his home in Kearney.
Harry was born in Trenton, on Nov. 12, 1936, to Wesley Irwin and Edna (Frakes) Fuqua.
He grew up in the in the Benkelman area and they moved to Lexington his senior year.
On May 28, 1960, he married Marilyn Naprstek and they moved to Minden in 1966.
He worked for Minden Beef, Talbert Land Leveling and then Eaton’s for 16 years.
They moved to Kearney in 2007 after they retired.
He enjoyed bowling, camping, watching John Wayne movies and loved his family.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn, of Kearney; daughters, Lonna Gronewoller and husband, Scott, of Kearney, Linda Gibreal and husband, John, of Minden and Teresa Bontz and husband, Jeff, of Aurora; son, Irwin Fuqua and wife, Amy, of Kearney; eight grandsons, six great-grandchildren; sisters, Rose Marie Griess of Spokane, Wash., Mary Ann Schnacker of Lexington and Betty Wonderly of Elwood.
Funeral services were March 5 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. Donald Becker and the Rev. James Howard DeLoach officiating.
Burial was in the Minden Cemetery.
Layton-Craig Funeral Home of Minden was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to AseraCare Hospice or St. Jude’s.
