Alfred Fankell - February 03, 2012


Alfred “Ted” Fankell, 93, of Kingwood, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Feb. 3, 2012.
Ted was born July 17, 1918, in Minden.
He was a veteran of two foreign wars, proudly served his country in the Marines in World War II and in the Army in the Korean War.
After several years in private business, he entered the Civil Service from which he retired. This was when Ted and his family developed their love of travel as they were stationed in Africa and Europe.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and wonderful friend.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Phyllis Torney Fankell; sister, Sylvia Pemberton; and son, Douglas Fankell and wife, Ellen; grandchildren, Patrick Kittle, Emily Fankell, and Scott Fankell.
He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Fankell; siblings, Roy Fankell, Herbert Fankell, and Ruth Lake Atchison; and his parents, Homer and Mary Fankell.
A memorial service was held Feb. 8 at Kingwood Funeral Home in Kingwood, Texas.
An interment service will be held in Wheat Ridge, Colo., in the spring.
