Jane Broeren - January 14, 2012

Jane Eleanor (Aabel) Broeren, 74, of Leander, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 14, 2012, following a lengtyy illness.
Jane was born in Holdrege on May 24, 1937, to Wilhelm Morris Aabel and Pearl Mabel Emily (Nelson) Aabel.
After graduating from Minden High School, she attended St. Anthony Practical Nursing School in Denver, Colo. She graduated as an LPN in 1956.
She met her husband, Donald, in Denver and they married on Aug. 25, 1956, in Raton, N.M.
She was known for her love of reading, rock and shell collecting, bowling, and ceramics.
She was an active member of The Order of the Eastern Star for more than 55 years. She was dearly treasured by a large circle of friends and family, and was truly a blessing to all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents and twin sister, Jean Dorothy (Aabel) Escobar.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald E. Broeren; daughter, Marjorie Kitzman of Leander, Texas; son, Fredric Broeren of Austin, Texas; son, Douglas Broeren and wife, Deborah of Rochester, Minn.; daughter, Gwen Ross and husband, Richard of Louisville, Colo.; son, Jon Broeren and wife, Melissa of Leander, Texas; daughter, Cynthia England and husband, Mark of Leander, Texas; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many relatives, good friends and devoted neighbors, especially Ward and Rojean Nelson of Wilcox and Mrs. Fred (Patricia) Oeltjenbruns of Kasson, Minn.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden with the Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating.
Interment will follow at the Minden Cemetery.
Craig Funeral Home of Minden is in charge of arrangements.
