Gladys Diener - December 31, 2011


Gladys Viola Diener, 71, of Holdrege, died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.
Gladys was born June 6, 1940, on the family farm near Macon, the ninth of nine children born to Focke and Katherin (Miller) Diener.
She attended rural country school near Macon until the fifth grade.
She lived at Bethphage Mission at Axtell for 30 years. Later, she worked as a seamstress for Mosaic in Holdrege.
She enjoyed doing latch-hook as a hobby and watching old television shows.
Survivors include her sisters, Mary Fox of Smithfield, Tillie Goracke and husband, Francis, of Phillipsburg, Kan.; brother, John Diener of Franklin; brother-in-law, Billy Jensen of rural Alma; nieces, Kathy Witt and husband, Randy, of Juniata, Joyce Bretton and husband, Dale, of Phillipsburg, Kan., Veronica Yowell and husband, William, of Lovell, Wyo., Rogene Oyler and husband, Albert, of Smithfield, Katherine Lierman and husband, Trent, of Grand Island, and Judy Wade of Upland; niece-in-law, Diane Sasse of Lincoln; nephews, Jim Forden of Hastings, Harvey Goracke and wife, Marilyn, of Phillipsburg, Kan., Dale Jensen and wife, Deb, of Alma, Gary Jensen and wife, Sharon, of Wilcox and John Jensen of Lincoln, along with many extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Flora Forden Greisen, Louise Jensen and Leta Mae Diener; brothers, Habbe Diener and Earl Diener; and nephew, Dennis Sasse.
Funeral services were Jan. 3 at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with Pastor Paul Snider officiating.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Macon.
Memorials may be directed to the Mosaic or Bethel Lutheran Church.
