Have you ever been embarrassed by your mother or thought your sister's husband was just a little off? Have you ever thought to yourself, "My family is just a little bit crazy"? If you have, then the play You Can't Take it with You by Moss Hart and George Kaufman is for you. In this three-act play set in the 1930s, Tony Kirby, the vice president of the family business, and Alice Sycamore, whose father who makes fireworks for a living and mother who writes plays about sex, try to find a way to make their love work. Snakes, Russian duchesses, fireworks, accordions, Kolenkhov, ballerinas, and a drunken actress take the stage. As if that isn't enough, the IRS, the department of justice, and some game playing liven things up. With a little advice from Grandpa, a little chaos from a family dinner, and a few arrests, you will have to see if love can survive.
The Minden High School drama department will perform You Can't Take It With You at the Minden Opera House Thursday, April 29 and Friday, April 30.
