The Kearney County Board of Supervisors met August 27. Budget and valuation reviews were high on the list of agenda items.
The county valuation was reported to be down nearly $92 million from last year. In order to make up the difference, the levy was increased approximately 2¢. No changes were noted to the proposed budget. The board set a public budget hearing for September 18 at 9:30 a.m.
Safety Chairman Joe Anderson spoke to the board about appointing a new Safety Committee member. Theresa Ciemnoczolowski, a member of the Safety Committee, recently resigned from the County Clerk’s office leaving a vacancy on the committee. Shelly Gibbons from the Extension Office was suggested to fill the vacancy. The Supervisors approved appointing Gibbons to the Safety Committee.
