Cayley Carpenter of Minden was among 21 Nebraska Girl Scouts to earn the Gold Award this year. The highest achievement in Girl Scouts, the  Gold Award is earned by making a lasting and impactful change in the girl’s community.
For her project, Carpenter created a new display in the Homes and Shops Building at Pioneer Village. The exhibit is one of twenty rooms depicting kitchens, living rooms, and bedrooms from generations as far back as 1830. Carpenter chose to depict a 1980s bedroom.
“I had to research what bedrooms looked like in the 1980s. Then I had to find all the stuff and put it together in the display,” Carpenter explained.
