The City of Minden is encouraging residents and visitors to recycle with three new recycle bins. The receptacles were broken in at the Kearney County Fair and used again during the Christmas City Classic Car Show.
“The idea was to put them in the ball parks, but by the time we got them designed and ordered the ball games were over. So we decided this would be a good time to try them out in other places. We haven’t used them enough to see what kind of difference they make yet, but we’re pretty excited about the future,” Lynda Stangl said.
Stangl is an employee at the Recycling Center in Minden and an advocate for recycling. She presented the idea of recycle bins at public events to City Administrator Matt Cederburg who was in favor of her idea. Once she found a company to buy them from, she designed them and placed the order.
