The NE 1/4 33-5-16 located one and half miles east of Wilcox was purchased on March 2, 1917 for $15,000 from V.A. Marsteller by three brothers — Hugo, Fred and Carl Aspegren sons of Andrew Aspegren who had homesteaded a quarter section of land two miles east and one mile north of this place, in 1878. The property had an existing small two bedroom house, a small barn, and a chicken house on it when Hugo, his wife Mamie, and son Robert moved in. In 1919 another son Russell was born in that house and in 1925 a daughter Dorothy Maxine was born. In about 1920 a larger barn was built by the brothers and then a granary and in 1924 Hugo would buy out his two brothers.
