The Kearney County Board of Supervisors had a lot to discuss at the June 5 meeting. Getting straight to business the board reviewed an update to the Tri-Basin Natural Resources District Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Kearney County is one of several areas included in the plan which is updated every five years. Participation in the plan allows Emergency Manager Jeff England to obtain grant money for preventative equipment in the County. A resolution adopting the updated Hazard Mitigation Plan was approved by the supervisors.
Dustin Schroll from Flatwater Wireless asked the board for permission to install a pedestal for fiber and wireless service on County right of way on 21 Road between Highway 6 and K Road. He told the supervisors he has been in service for two years and needs more fiber capacity in order to service more customers. The proposed structure will be a 3’x8’x8’ welded steel building to house servers. He explained the location offers him the best access to redundant fiber service from the highway.
