The Minden City Council held a special meeting April 5 to take action on three matters.
The short meeting began with approval to let out for bid conduit and pull boxes for purchasing and trenching and installation for the City’s 34.5kv subtransmission project. Bids will be accepted until May 2 and brought before the council at the May 7 meeting. The work is scheduled to begin on or after June 4 and be completed by August 17.
The City received quotes for general cable for the subtransmission project from two companies. The cable quoted in both bids meets all of the specifications set by NPPD, but there is a significant cost difference. After reviewing the quotes, NPPD recommended accepting the quote from Kriz-Davis/BSE for 39,621 feet of Southwire general cable at a cost of $175,521. The Kriz-Davis quote was approved by the council. Utilities Superintendent Ryan Hurst said he would contact the company directly following the meeting to ensure the quote is secured before its expiration.
